By the late 1950s, Austin-Healey had already captured the affections of many, particularly in the American market. While the 1956 100/6 roadster garnered praise, its 2.6-liter engine fell short in comparison to its rivals. Responding to this challenge, the transformative 3000 made its debut in 1959. Though its external appearance remained unaltered, beneath the surface, the 3000 harbored a robust engine of nearly 3 liters, complete with twin carburetors. This upgrade was complemented by the adoption of front disc brakes in lieu of drums.

Even the engine and transmission underwent thorough disassembly and careful analysis, ensuring that they would operate at peak performance.

Beneath the hood resides a 2912 CC 6-cylinder in-line engine, skillfully coupled with twin Su HS6 carburettors.
